Installation Guide
Review and understand complete
guide before beginning installation.
This guide has been prepared as
suggested details to particular design
conditions. Each condition has certain
limitations to performance, aethetics or economics.
Professionals qualified to assess this information for a
specific project, should determine that the selection and
installation are made to their requirements. ATAS cannot
assume any responsibility for the actual selection and/or
installation of materials. The panels, flashings and trim
shown in this guide, illustrated over solid and plumb sub-
strate, assume that the structure has been designed and
prepared in accordance with local building codes.
Granutile is installed horizontally, from the ridge down. The
panels can be installed over open framing, solid underlay-
ment or over low profile roofing material. When installing
over open framing a vapor barrier is required beneath the
panel. It is recommended to use ATA Guard over a solid sub-
strate or old roofing material. In addition install waterproofing
membrane at all eaves, valleys, hip and ridges. 2” x 2” wood
battens are used to provide a fastening point for the panels.
Space battens as shown below.
Upper panel row overlaps lower row.
The panel should be fastened with
SWR9XX into the wood batten.
Panel sides should overlap as shown.

Panel coverage - 14 1/2” nom. x 43 3/4” nom.
Place ATA Guard on the roof overlapping
the bottom row at the eave. Depending on
location, codes, etc. water / ice proofing
membrane may be required at the eaves and
valleys, hips and gables. It is recommended
to leave 1” space between lengths of wood
battens and stagger the spaces up the roof.
The first row of battens should be installed at
the eave.
The second row of battens should be at 14 1/4”
measured from front of first row. The sunse-
quent rows of battens should be 14 1/2” apart.
The top batten is installed at the ridge. The top
panel is measured to size and bent up. This is
done prior to cutting to length to minimize panel
distortion. Then the panel is cut 1” above the
bend to form a water barrier and fastened to
the wood batten. The second row is slipped
behind the front face of the top row and fas-
tened through both panels into the batten.
